A kidney cleanse is any protocol that involves the drinking of large amounts of liquid while eating a healthy diet. A kidney cleanse can be done by anyone who wants to improve the function of the kidneys, but it is especially
beneficial for those who want to pass kidney stones without surgery.
The best way to prevent these kidney stones is by making sure your body receives adequate amount of liquid every day. Drink plenty of water everyday, eat fruit rich in water, and avoid dehydration. Minimize consumption of coffee, chocolate, and processed foods. This article will focus on the function of the kidneys, how kidney stones are formed, and how to safely expel kidney stones naturally.
Function of the Kidneys and How Kidney Stones Are Formed
The kidneys, two bean-shaped organs located on each side of the lower back, is responsible for filtering the blood, removing waste and water. The kidneys also function to balance the body's fluid levels, release hormones to regulate blood pressure, help create red blood cells, and produce vitamin D.
Kidney stones form when the salts and minerals in the urine crystallize inside the kidney. Usually, these crystals are small enough to easily pass through the body without any harm. However, the problem occurs when the crystals build up inside of the kidney, resulting in large stones.
Small, solid masses called kidney stones may form when salts or minerals, normally found in urine, become solid crystals inside the kidney. These salts may include uric acid, xanthine, calcium oxalate, and cystine. Normally, these crystals are too small to be noticed, and pass harmlessly out of your body. However, when the salts or minerals become highly concentrated and when the amount of urine significantly decreases, they can create larger stones. When the kidneys try to pass the kidney stone through the ureters, the stones can become stuck in the tubes, which can cause excruciating pain, infection, and possible kidney damage.
Stones can also form in the bladder or in the ureters.
Symptoms of Kidney Stones
When you start to have problems with the kidney, the symptoms will be quite evident and hard to ignore. The most tell-tale sign of kidney stones is pain in the lower and middle back, where the kidneys and spine is located. The pain tends to come in sporadic waves, sometimes it can be so severe that it radiates to other parts of the body. Other symptoms include bloody or cloudy urine, edema, and sudden feelings of sickness and/or vomiting. You may also experience a fever, chills, frequent urges to urinate, burning sensation during urinating, and bloody or cloudy urine.
Please note that these symptoms mirror those of cystitis or urinary tract infection. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should consult a physician for proper diagnoses and advice. If you are indeed suffering from kidney stones, you can try a kidney cleansing at home before undergoing any surgery.
Kidney Cleansing Recipes
Depending on the size and severity, you can possibly dissolve the stones within three weeks. Larger stones can take longer. While undergoing the kidney cleanse process, avoid consuming carbonated beverages, large amounts of tea, and cocoa.
Kidneys Cleanse by using watermelon
The easiest way to get rid of kidney stones is watermelon. Watermelon makes a great kidney cleanser because of its high concentration of water. To do a watermelon cleanse, you will need 20-100 pounds of water. While sitting in a bath filled with water, eat as much watermelon as you possibly can throughout the day while emptying your bladder in the water. The thought of sitting in urine may be off-putting, so you can fill the tub with fresh water every time you urinate. Please note that this type of cleanse is not suitable for diabetics.
Making a watermelon seed tea is an alternative way you can use watermelon for kidney detoxification. You can prepare this tea by pouring boiling water over watermelon seeds and allowing it to steep. You will need about two cups of boiling water and one tablespoon of cut or ground seeds. Allow the tea to cool, strain the seeds, and drink. You should make fresh tea for each use.
Cleansing with Celery
Celery seeds are great for increasing water elimination and cleansing toxins from the joints. Unlike the watermelon cleanse, using celery seeds is safe for diabetics.
To prepare a celery seed tea, you will need two cups of boiling water and a tablespoon of ground or cut celery seeds. Pour the water of the seeds, steep, cool, strain and drink. Consume the tea at least once a day 3-4 times a week. This tea should also be freshly made for each use. A celery seed tea is not safe for those who are pregnant since it is a uterine stimulant
You can also take advantage of the celery leaves. You will need one cup of celery leaves, one cup of parsley leave, and six cups of distilled water. Mix the leaves and water together and boil for 20 minutes. Strain the leave and allow the water to simmer for an additional 20 minutes. Cool and drink.
At least once a day, three days a week, drink celery seed tea prepared by pouring a pint of boiling water over a tablespoonful of celery seeds (freshly ground or cut) and allowing it to steep. Let it cool, then strain and drink. If practical, the tea should be made fresh for each use.
Herbal Method
There are numerous herbs that can be used for a kidney stone cleanse, and many home remedies to use them. Using herbs is generally unnecessary unless you are having severe back pain. This recipe, taken from Dr. Hulda Clark consists of the following:
* 1/2 cup of dried hydrangea root
* 1/2 cup of gravel root
* 1/2 cup of marshmallow root
* 8 oz. Black Cherry Concentrate
* Pinch vitamin B2 powder
* HCl drops (Hydrocloric Acid)
* Honey, Agave Nectar, or Maple Syrup for Sweetening (optional)
Take a 1/4 cup of each root and soak in ten cups of cold water in a plastic bowl covered. It's important that the bowl and lid is not metal. After soaking for a few minutes, add vitamin B2 powder. Allow the mixture to sit overnight (minimum of four hours), and then heat to boiling. Lower the heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Next, add the black cherry concentrate and bring the heat back to boiling. Strain the mixture and pour into a glass jar. Allow the mixture to cool and drink 3/4 cups of the tea, add two drops of HCl, and sip slowly throughout the day. Refrigerate half of the tea to use one week, and freeze the other half for another week.
Measure 1/4 (one fourth) cup of each root [half of the roots] and set them to soak, together in 10 cups of cold tap water, using a non-metal container and a non-metal lid (a dinner plate will do). Add vitamin B2 powder. After four hours (or overnight), heat to boiling and simmer for 20 minutes. Add black cherry concentrate [8oz.] and bring back to boiling. Pour through a bamboo or plastic strainer into glass jar. Drink 3/4 (three fourths) cup by sipping slowly throughout the day (stir in two drops HCl first). Refrigerate half to use this week, and freeze the other half for next week.
Kidney Cleanse Diet
A successful kidney cleanse requires a healthy diet. A few days before doing a cleanse eat light meals. During the fast, drink plenty of fresh fruit and/or vegetable juices throughout the day. Lunch should be the largest meal of the day, consisting of raw or cooked vegetables, salad with olive oil and lemon juice, baked potato, egg yolk, brown rice, baked fish, or baked turkey. You can also eat vegetable soup and dark rye bread. Avoid red meat, smoked meats, pork, and canned fish.
